About the Meeting
The meeting will discuss brain development, circuit formation, and evolution from diverse perspectives, focusing on fundamental principles of brain construction conserved across species and the evolutionary plasticity that gave rise to higher brain functions.
Recent advances in technologies such as single-cell analysis, spatial transcriptomics, and small-animal MRI now enable comparative investigation of brain construction from the cellular to the circuit level. By bringing together research on a wide variety of animal species—not only conventional model organisms—we will discuss what is conserved across species, what changed during evolution, and how these features contributed to the emergence of higher brain functions.
We especially aim to create an environment in which early-career researchers can openly discuss unpublished data and ongoing research ideas. By connecting researchers in developmental neurobiology, comparative neuroanatomy, evolutionary developmental biology, neuroscience, imaging, and other fields, we hope to foster new collaborations and interdisciplinary networks. Researchers working on any aspect of the brain are welcome.
Meeting Format
This meeting is supported by the Yamada Science Foundation through its Yamada Conference program. It will be held as a three-day, two-night residential meeting, and participants are generally expected to attend the full meeting.
- Accommodation is generally planned as shared rooms for four people.
- Poster presentations and short talks are planned to provide presentation opportunities for early-career researchers and students.
